NEW YEAR BRINGS NEW PROMOTIONS
Promotions were announced at the Humble ISD Police
Department annual Christmas party. Chief Cook announced
the following promotions: Investigator J. Campbell
has been promoted to Corporal. Corporal Campbell
will be assigned to the Patrol Division. Senior
Officer B. Brown has been promoted to Investigator.
Inv. Brown will continue to serve as the head of the
Gang Unit. Senior Officer D. Plant has been
promoted to Investigator. Inv. Plant will
primarily focus on accident related investigations.
Congratulations to these fine officers.

OFFICER OF THE YEAR
Senior Officer Shannon Sharp is honored by the Humble ISD Police
Department as Officer of the Year:

Police Department is proud to announce that
Senior Police Officer Shannon Sharp has been awarded this honor at
the Humble ISD Police Department annual Christmas party at the Humble Civic Center on
December 19th, 2008. Nominations for Officer of the Year are
submitted by sworn and civilian personnel of the Humble ISD Police
Department. These nominations are tabulated and the
announcement is made every year at the Christmas party.
Sr. Officer Sharp is currently over the Humble ISD Police
Department's Support
Services Division. Sr. Officer Sharp
has worked tirelessly to build the Support Services
Division from the ground up.

The Humble
ISD Police Department is proud to announce the promotion
of five of our officers.
Senior Officer E.
Journet has been promoted to the rank of
Corporal.
Officers J. Campbell and J. Sanchez
have been promoted to the rank of Investigator and
Officers B. Brown and S. Sharp has been promoted to the
rank of Senior Officer.
Corporal Journet will be
the acting Corporal over the Community Services Division
taking the place of Corporal M. Saldivar who will now be
the day shift patrol supervisor.

Beverly Randle is honored by the Humble Area Chamber of
Commerce as Peace Officer of the Year:
The Humble ISD
Police Department is proud to announce that one of our own has
been awarded Peace Officer of the Year by the Humble
Area Chamber of Commerce. Senior Police Officer
Beverly Randle was awarded this honor at a special
luncheon at the Humble Civic Center on Tuesday, May 20th,
2008. Many officers are nominated for this honorable
award, but only one is chosen. The award is given to the
officer who performs his or her duty above and beyond what is
expected of them as a Texas Peace Officer.

Humble ISD bond package passed. HISD Police to get
new station

With overwhelming support, voters in
the Humble Independent School District backed a $245 million
schoolhouse bond.
Votes for the bond totaled 3,417 (71.64 percent), while
1,353 votes came in against the bond.
“We’re pleased with the bond being passed,” board
President Dave Martin, who also won his Position 6 seat
unopposed on the ballot. “We need those campuses in the
district.”
Three new schools highlighted the $244.92 million bond
with $96.4 million to go towards two new elementary schools,
a middle school and acquiring land for four new schools. The
three scheduled schools will all be in the south end of the
district to address the growth from new subdivisions.
More than $52 million will go into improving current
campuses by replacing major items like chillers, roofs,
roofs, paint, carpet and air conditioning units.
This figure also includes new security cameras for the
elementary schools.
Another $72.9 million dollars
will be allotted for upgrading support facilities and
programs such as sprucing up Turner Stadium as well as a new
police station.
Purchasing new computers and updating technology like
classroom projectors will account for $23.6 million of the
bond package.
The tax rate for home owners will jump 8 cents for every
$100 of value. The total rate in the district will rise to
$1.39.
Humble High burglary
suspects charged:

Two men have been charged with burglary after $3,500 of
merchandise was taken from Humble High School on July 8,
school officials said. Christopher Grove, 22, and Matthew
Duggan, 23, were in the Harris County Jail on Friday,
district officials said.
According to Humble school district officials, a window
was broken in the cafeteria when two suspects broke in.
Computer equipment, Palm pilots, cell phones, cell phone
batteries, keys and $40 petty cash were stolen, said Humble
district spokeswoman Jamie Mount.
The incident was captured on a surveillance camera.
"On July 11, a Humble High School administrator saw an
individual on Wilson Road who looked like one of the men and
called Humble ISD police," Mount said.
Grove was located and taken into custody and Duggan
turned himself in on an unrelated warrant July 18, Mount
said.
"Our schools and school property belong to the community
and it's important that the equipment be protected for
student and employee use," Mount said.
